Kudzu fields below limestone mountains in Vu Lang

The Hung Organic Cooperative (THOC) is an agricultural cooperative in Vu Lang commune, in the limestone mountains of Bac Son, Lang Son province, northern Vietnam. Members grow and process two products: kudzu root starch and Canh mandarins.

Kudzu root starch

Kudzu is grown on fields at the foot of the limestone mountains. The roots are washed, crushed, then filtered and settled by hand several times until the starch is clean and white. Since 2026 the cooperative dries the starch in a multi-tray drying oven instead of in the sun. No bleaching, no additives. Kudzu root starch is a small-batch, family-made product and does not yet hold a formal food-safety certification.

Canh mandarins (VietGAP)

The cooperative's orchard holds VietGAP certificate no. 112/CN-TĐC-TT-20-0012 (TCVN 11892-1:2017), issued by NATEK JSC on 23 Dec 2025 and valid until 22 Dec 2028, under the cooperative's former name. Mandarins are fresh fruit and are currently sold within Vietnam only.
